Jonah Bride went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Wednesday against the Phillies.

Bride has been scalding hot since being anointed the Marlins’ everyday first baseman. He’s started all but one game since July 25th and has five homers, 11 RBI, seven runs scored, 17 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 61 at-bats. That could be a very helpful player in deep leagues.

MIA Starting Pitcher #27

Edward Cabrera allowed six hits and six earned runs over four innings in a loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.

Cabrera fell apart in the fourth inning after being spotted a three-run cushion by his offense. He loaded the bases with two out before Kyle Schwarber just barely found the seats in left-center field for a grand slam. His command was waning even before the big fly as Cabrera walked four and barely threw half of his pitches for strikes. There was hope he’d build off his gem last Friday against the Padres, but Cabrera did not deliver.
Sandy Alcantara

MIA Starting Pitcher #22

Craig Mish of Sportsgrid reports that the Marlins informed right-hander Sandy Alcantara (elbow) that he will not be traded during the upcoming offseason.

The 28-year-old hurler is in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’ll now be able to work through the winter without the cloud of trade rumors hanging over his head. He’s expected to be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of the 2025 season, where he’ll function as the Marlins’ Opening Day starter.
Xavier Edwards

MIA Second Baseman #63

Xavier Edwards went 2-for-5 with two steals and one run scored in a 5-0 win over the Phillies on Tuesday.

Edwards just keeps producing. He’s now stolen 18 bases on the season with 15 of them coming since the All-Star break. He continues to be a solid source of batting average and steals and is setting himself to be the starting shortstop and leadoff hitter for the Marlins in 2025 as well.
Jake Burger

MIA Third Baseman #36

Jake Burger went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in a win over the Phillies on Tuesday.

Burger took Taijuan Walker deep 405 feet at 107.5 mph for his 23rd home run on the season and his 13th in just 24 games since the All-Star break. We’ve seen Burger cooking before, but this is an otherworldly hot streak. He needs to be in all lineups until long after he cools off.
Valente Bellozo

MIA Starting Pitcher #83

Valente Bellozo threw seven shutout innings in a win over the Phillies on Tuesday, allowing four hits while striking out four.

It wasn’t an overpowering performance for Bellozo, who induced just six whiffs on 45 swings for a 13 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW. He also allowed six hard-hit baseballs and two extra-base hits, but he kept the Phillies off the scoreboard and that’s all that matters. The 24-year-old has now allowed just two total earned runs in 17 2/3 innings in his last three starts against the Braves, Reds, and Phillies. Not bad. He’ll take a 2.28 ERA into a tough start against the Diamondbacks next week and his poor minor league numbers suggest that this won’t last.
Vidal Brujan

MIA Second Baseman #17

Vidal Bruján was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Phillies with a right shoulder AC joint sprain.

Bruján suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly on his right shoulder while making a sprawling grab in foul territory. The versatile 26-year-old is most likely headed to the injured list. It’s a tough break since he was just starting to really carve out an everyday role with Miami.
Shaun Anderson

MIA Relief Pitcher #48

Marlins sent RHP Shaun Anderson outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Anderson predictably went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last Friday. The 29-year-old journeyman righty has the option to elect free agency, but will probably elect to stick around with Miami as emergency pitching depth.
George Soriano

MIA Relief Pitcher #62

George Soriano struck out the only batter he faced to earn the save in a 7-6 win over the Padres on Sunday.

Andrew Nardi entered the game in the eighth inning and allowed two runs on a pinch-hit home run by Donovan Solano, but the Marlins let Nardi stay in to try and finish the two-inning save. However, after a two-out double to Ha-Seong Kim, they turned to Soriano who struck out Luis Campusano for his first save of the season. Calvin Faucher had thrown 19 pitches on Saturday and Anthony Bender had thrown 26, so it’s likely that Soriano was just given a shot to not have either of those right-handers pitch. It’s unlikely Soriano is entering the saves mix.
Jake Burger

MIA Third Baseman #36

Jake Burger went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in a win over the Padres on Sunday.

Burger now has 22 home runs and 53 RBI on the season and has been on a tear since July 1st, clubbing 14 home runs and driving in 24 runs in 33 games. He’s also 16-for-44 (.363) with seven home runs in just 11 games in August. He needs to be rostered in all leagues while his bat is this hot.
